In this bundle: You get the 12-part BINC questionnaire + 50 page manual.

What is it?

A questionnaire designed for Allied Health Professionals to gather essential information about Neurodivergent Clients. This questionnaire can be given in full, or individual sections administered. You may fill out this questionnaire in an interview-style session with a parent/caregiver, or you can email it to them to fill out on their own. This questionnaire is also appropriate to give to teachers.

Who is it for?

School-aged Neurodivergent clients. Make sure you have read each section of the BINC before administering it. It may not be a good fit for every client.

Why do I need this?

Neurodivergent clients are rarely straightforward.

A client may have been referred to you with speech sound errors, language delay, literacy difficulties, or simply ‘behaviour’, but often there are lots of other things going on. Sometimes we get clients who have simply been referred for Autism or ADHD, despite having brilliant speech and language. What then? It can be difficult to know where to start and what to prioritise, or even if this client would benefit from our service at all.

The NeuroWild BINC will give you a ton of essential information that will help you better understand your Neurodivergent clients, and inform your goal-setting and decision-making. It will also give direction as to what accommodations may be beneficial for your client.

The main questionnaire aims to collect information across the following areas:

· Section 1: Emotional Regulation

· Section 2: Communication Style

· Section 3: Self-Advocacy Skills

· Section 4: Executive Functioning Skills

· Section 5: Stress and Dysregulation

· Section 6: Empathy, Reflection and Awareness

· Section 7: Sensory Sensitivity

· Section 8: Neurodivergent Awareness, Understanding, and Wellbeing

· Section 9: Social Patterns and Interactions

The following sections are also available as standalone questionnaires and may be administered in addition to the main questionnaire, or on their own.

· Section 10: At School (For Teacher to fill out)

· Section 11: After School (For Parent/Caregiver to fill out)

· Section 12: Fawning/People-pleasing

How to use it:

Administer the main questionnaire with a parent/caregiver of a Neurodivergent client. You can use it with new clients as a ‘getting to know you’ questionnaire, and you can use it with clients who you have had for a while.

The digital version is a fillable PDF, otherwise you are welcome to print the questionnaires. Work through each item in the table recording the parent/caregiver’s responses. If they have any additional comments/information, you can record that in the third column.

This questionnaire should not be administered in front of the client.

It will be used to gain an understanding of the parent/caregiver’s observations, perceptions, knowledge, and attitudes towards the child. For this reason, you can choose to email this to the parent/caregiver rather than completing it in session.

The NeuroWild BINC main questionnaire may also be emailed to the client’s teacher. If you are in need of a shorter form for teachers, you can email Section 10 singularly, and then additional sections as required.

If a parent/teacher is unsure of any particular item, or if an item is not applicable to their child, they can leave it blank.

Having the questionnaire filled out by both parent and teacher will give important insight into how the client presents differently at home/school. This data will be particularly useful for clients who are masking significantly at school, fawning, experiencing overwhelm, after-school-restraint collapse, burn out, and ‘school can’t’.

Administer the NeuroWild BINC in addition to your clinic’s standard background information forms/questionnaires, as well as any specific assessments that you deem necessary (e.g. speech/language assessments, sensory profile, etc).

Once the NeuroWild BINC has been completed you can then analyse the data collected to draw conclusions and inform goal-setting.

The data you will get from this questionnaire is qualitative.

Disclaimer

The NeuroWild BINC is not a diagnostic tool.

It has been designed to be used as one part of your assessment toolkit.

It will give you a lot of information about your client, but it certainly won’t give you every piece of information you will need.
